Project Background

The China National Environmental Monitoring Center (CNEMC), adhering to the principles of "national assessment, national monitoring, and data sharing," has established and improved a surface water environmental quality monitoring system focused on ensuring the quality of monitoring data. This system primarily relies on automatic monitoring, with manual monitoring as a supplementary approach, and ensures data sharing between national and local levels. In accordance with the "13th Five-Year Plan for the National Surface Water Environmental Quality Monitoring Network" (Environmental Monitoring [2016] No. 30), the project involved procuring an automated water quality comprehensive supervision platform and a surface water automatic monitoring system in 2018. This system merged existing national, local, and trend research monitoring stations, totaling 1,903 stations, creating the world’s largest and most comprehensive surface water environmental quality automated monitoring network.

Construction Content

1.Regulation Platform

The National Water Quality Automated Supervision Platform integrates data from all 1,903 stations, enabling operation by 2,410 users across three levels: grassroots, provincial, regional, the China National Environmental Monitoring Center, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The platform consolidates data collection, quality control, data validation, performance evaluation, and monitoring/early warning functions. It supports up to 10,000 stations, with unlimited scalability for users.

2.Automated Water Quality Station

Monitoring Parameters: Water Temperature, pH, Electrical Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Turbidity, Permanganate Index, Ammonia Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus, Total Nitrogen, For lake and reservoir sites, additional parameters include: Chlorophyll-a, Algal Density.

Number of Stations:
Out of the 1,903 stations, 734 are equipped with Lihe Technology, with 310 of these stations having a three-year operation and maintenance service provided by Lihe Technology.
