Detection method 1: Using periodate oxidation spectrophotometry, a certain amount of sulfuric acid and nitric acid are added to a certain volume of water sample. At a certain temperature, all solid manganese elements in the water sample are converted into ionic manganese. The pH value of the solution is adjusted, and then a buffer solution is added. Finally, a strong oxidizing agent is added to oxidize all manganese of different valence states into manganese of the highest valence under this condition. The solution system is purple-red. The absorbance value of the color system is detected to calculate the concentration of total manganese.
Detection method 2: Using formaldehyde oxime spectrophotometry, in an alkaline solution of pH 9.0~10.0, manganese (II) is dissolved and oxidized to manganese (IV), and forms a brown complex with formaldehyde oxime. The absorbance value of the color system is detected to calculate the concentration of total manganese.
