Withstanding Flood Tests and Maintaining Stable Operation! Lihero Technology’s Intelligent Monitoring Safeguards the Water Environment in Sri Lanka

2026-08-05

The Kelani River Automated Water Quality Monitoring Station, constructed by Lihero, has achieved one year of continuous and stable operation. The Kelani River serves as an essential water source for drinking, agricultural irrigation, and industrial development. The monitoring system has maintained stable operation and delivered continuous, reliable water quality data, providing strong scientific support for water management, environmental supervision, and watershed ecological protection in Sri Lanka.

Compared with conventional manual sampling methods, the project adopts an automated online water quality monitoring system featuring automatic data acquisition, intelligent analysis, remote transmission, and integrated management, significantly improving monitoring efficiency and data continuity. The station provides real-time monitoring of key parameters, including pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), electrical conductivity (EC), turbidity, ammonia nitrogen (NH₃-N), and chemical oxygen demand (COD), enabling comprehensive assessment of water quality dynamics in the Kelani River.

Through this system, local authorities can remotely monitor equipment status and water quality trends. Automated data transmission, storage, and analysis provide continuous, reliable, and timely data support for pollution early warning, optimized water resource management, and environmental regulation.

During operation, the monitoring station successfully withstood extreme weather challenges. At the end of 2025, Tropical Cyclone “Ditta” brought severe flooding to Sri Lanka, causing a sharp rise in the Kelani River water level and temporarily affecting the monitoring facilities. Following the event, Lihero immediately activated its emergency response mechanism and maintained close coordination with Sri Lanka’s Central Environmental Authority (CEA).

After the floodwaters receded, professional engineers conducted on-site inspections, fault diagnosis, and system recovery. Without replacing core components, the monitoring system was quickly restored to stable operation, with all monitoring parameters remaining normal and stable. This extreme weather event further demonstrated the high reliability and strong environmental adaptability of Lihero’s monitoring solutions, while highlighting the company’s capabilities in overseas project implementation, technical support, and emergency response.

In recent years, Lihero has actively responded to the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting Chinese environmental monitoring technologies and equipment to international markets. Its solutions have been applied across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and beyond, amassing substantial project experience in surface water, drinking water, groundwater, industrial park, and ecological monitoring. In the future, Lihero remains committed to innovation-driven growth, and the continued provision of advanced monitoring technologies, equipment, and solutions, contributing China's practices to global ecological governance and sustainable development.
